Misty Vale
Main region — where most of this story is set.
Misty Vale is a fabled valley that for centuries lay beyond ordinary human reach, ringed by the Kummer Mountains to the south and the Dragonfang Peaks to the north. Legend names it the ruined heart of a dragon-worshipping empire, long fallen and overrun by orcs. The mist that often smothers the land is impenetrable enough to define the place: beneath it stretch dense old-growth forest, the Kummer River with its great lakes, and the vast Haunted Marshes.
In the southern part of the valley, the frontier town of Outskirt sits among rolling hills and partly cultivated plains. Elsewhere, shattered imperial roads, horn-crowned milestones, and cracked pillars break through moss and fern. Cursed frontier—not the seat of any wider civilization.

Northern Reach
The Northern Reach is the northernmost part of the provinces and countries of the known world, the last habitable stretches before the Misty Vale. Dareholt and Vale's End Inn are here; the story starts at that threshold.

Fort Malus
Region: Misty Vale
Within Iron Forest
The Heirs of the Immaculate Flame occupied this ruined fort in the Iron Forest and held Iliel there after she refused to translate its elf writing.
The party released Rotlaug, the nature spirit bound beneath the keep. The spirit brought down the fort and merged with its restored golden apple tree, whose roots and vines now cover the ruins.

Hafarmal's Hut
Region: Misty Vale
Within Magna Woods
Hafarmal's hut stands in the Magna Woods, a short walk from the Temple of the Purple Flame, no more than twenty minutes along hidden paths if you know how to read the trees. It is a small, weathered wooden building, easy to miss: moss and lichen soften the walls, and the hearth is seldom cold, so the rooms carry smoke, warmth, and the resin smell of pine.
Inside, shelves crowd with herbs, books, and oddments; round the back, a vegetable patch and a garden supply the table, though Hafarmal has been known to lecture a familiar or two about boundaries where the greens are concerned.
Hafarmal himself, the elf with the rough voice, the pipe, and the disconcertingly black eyes, works and sleeps here when he is not abroad under the boughs, trading whispers with the wood in tongues strangers do not catch. The hut has offered rest, tea, and a quiet desk for slow, careful study when company arrives in trouble and the forest will not hurry its answers.
When snow comes down hard in Coalfrost, the place can feel cut off from the rest of the Vale, the woods close in, and the hut becomes an island of lamp-light and breath-steam between the trees.
